Several questions were then put to the DG, these covered items such as the size and complexity of the District and RIBI structure and its financial implications, weather there is a the need for Club's to formulate Business Plans and continuity issues within the District following the annual DG change. Comments were also made regarding the recent District Handover meeting and our Club's past difficulties in arranging Foundation monies.

Frodsham Carnival
Saturday 9th September was the final day in the calendar for the town carnival with Rotarians helping on two fronts.
Honorary Rotarian George Bunner MBE was to do his stuff and run a Frodsham version of a Highland Games. He needed help to set up the marquees on the Community Centre field which was a wonderful opportunity for the club members to demonstrate qualities of strength and intelligence, as the attached photos demonstrate.
Later we assisted with the marshalling of the very first Downhill Run from Frodsham Hill to the Community Centre.

Our Newest New Member
In his introduction of Jeff Mycock to Club members at the October dinner meeting, Rotarian Fred Bishop said that he had known Jeff for over 24 years. Jeff had been a member of Frodsham Round Table for many of these years, during which time he held the offices of both Chairman and President. He is particularly in favour of the concept of fellowship, which is a characteristic of both Round Table and Rotary.
President Malcolm formally welcomed Jeff into the Club and presented him with his membership badge. In response, Jeff thanked Malcolm and pledged his support to the Club. He said he was looking forward to taking an active part in Club affairs and being an active member of the Rotary movement in general. As is the custom, Fred then introduced Jeff individually to other Club members.
The photograph shows Jeff (centre) flanked by his sponsor, Rotarian Fred Bishop, and our president, Rotarian Malcolm Davies.
Life Education Centre 2006
Every year our club takes the Life Education Centre to schools on our patch and this year was no exception. For the first time in a number of years we managed to use our full 10 days allocation which meant more children were able to benefit.
Six schools took part, namely:-
- St Luke's RC
- Manor House
- Overton CE
- Kingsley Community Primary
- Kingsley St Johns
- Helsby Hillside
Rotarian Roy Wallwork spoke at length with heads, teachers, parents and of course the children, and found out how popular this scheme is, everyone loves it.
Rotarian Eddie Basnett provided towing from Grappenhall to Frodsham and Rotarian Sam Williams provided housing for the caravan at weekends and towed it to the various schools.
The caravan developed a flat tyre, but by pumping it up every time it had to be moved, and in the end repairing the puncture, Widnes Rotary Club were able to take it from us with everything OK for the journey.
FOOTNOTE
For those who are unfamiliar with the Life Education Centres the following is an extract from the LEC website:
The Life Education Centres programme was conceived in Australia by Ted Noffs in the late 1970s and was established in the UK in 1986 following a visit by HRH the Prince of Wales during which he encouraged the charity to set up in the UK. There have of course been many developments to the Life Education programme since this time but in all 14 countries that operate the programme the underlying message promoted by Ted Noffs remains.
Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that will never be again... And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two makes four, and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them: Do you know what you are - You are a marvel - You are unique."
Pablo Casals
Millions of children in many countries now participate annually in the Life Education Centres programmes.
