2006 Annual Charity Golf Day
The 22nd June saw fierce competition for the Alan Fozard
Memorial Trophy at Helsby Golf Club.
The winning team from Forest Hills Hotel, narrowly beaten into second place last year, had vowed to come back and seize the trophy. This they did in fine style and Kieran McCabe, pictured here with our President, expressed his delight at his team's success at some length.
The weather had been dry but cool and blustery and it took the teams up to 5 hours to complete the course. It was, perhaps, unsurprising then that there were few takers for the putting competition after the 18 holes. The raffle tickets sold in the warmth and comfort of the bar, however, did very well.
The day was rounded off by an excellent dinner, courtesy of the Catering Manager and his staff, when the golfers were joined by non playing members of our Rotary Club.
| Competition | Winner | Team |

Our thanks go to the President, The Captain and the Members of Helsby Golf Club, with special thanks to their Secretary, Len Norbury, and their Catering Manager, Jonathan Sharpe.
We are indepted to Peter Holland and Keith Millington for organising the event, and to all the Rotary helpers on the day.
See you all again next year.
Inner Wheel – Handover.
It was with the greatest of pleasure that VP1 Malcolm attended Inner Wheel’s Handover celebrations, which this year were held at Catton Hall Farm, the home of Past President Theresa Mann.
As was to be expected on such an important occasion, the evening’s meeting was very well attended, with 22 Club members being present.
Following their AGM, President Chris
Holland’s year
in office
came to an end as she passed over her Chain of Office to the Incoming
President, Jean Brook.
Staying with tradition, VP1 Malcolm presented President Jean with a bouquet of flowers and on behalf of all the members of our Rotary Club, wished her an enjoyable and successful year as President.
As might be expected from our VP1, there was a departure from tradition, in so much as, he also presented a “Steak & Kidney Pie” to President Jean, which he claimed he had made personally, along with the assistance of his wife, Maggie!
An explanation surrounding this unusual gift will be provided upon request.
In his closing remarks to President Jean and all the ladies present, he thanked them all for the courtesy shown to him and advised that President Jean has agreed to be one of his official guest at our Club’s Handover Dinner celebrations which are to be held on Thursday the 6th of July 2006.
