Four Villages Half Marathon
As in previous years, we were only too pleased to support Helsby Running Club's Half Marathon event.
The race was held on Sunday the 23rd of January at Helsby, where a record number of entrants started the 24th Four Villages Half Marathon with our Club members helping with Car Parking, Traffic Management and the provision of a Refreshment Stall.
Proceeds for the day amounted to almost £500 towards Rotary Charities.
Pictured here with our President is Anna Pichrtova, from the Czech Republic, who was the First lady runner to cross the finishing line.
Asian Tsunami Disaster
Within hours of the news of the tragic events in S.E. Asia, our Club agreed to support the efforts of the Disaster Emergency Committee by releasing an initial and immediate donation of £500.
Our Club members appreciated that financial aid was required as a matter of extreme urgency. We will be discussing with the "Rotary Organization" as a whole ongoing aid provisions that might be seen as necessary in the future.
Not wishing to leave it at that, our Club organized a "Bucket Collection" on Saturday the 8th of January and also the Thursday following. During these two days, Club members not only walked the streets and visited the Market but called in at the Towns Public Houses, Shops, Restaurants, Businesses ... etc, in their efforts to raise further funds.
It was however with great pleasure that we received specially collected donations from Frodsham Under 10's Football Club and from Robert Gleaves Home & Garden Centre.
Similarly we were pleased to receive a private donation from one of our Honorary Members, Professor Robert Roaf.
Adding everything together, our Club will be able to release some £2200 to the Disaster Emergency Relief Fund.
Our photo's show Club members collecting on Church Street and, by special permission of the Manager, outside the entrance to the Co-Op Supermarket in Frodsham.
Thanks to ALL the people who Helped and Donated during our collection of funds.
Rotary Centennial Publicity

On Monday the 31st of January a Meeting was arranged by Robert Atkins, a member of the Rotary Club of Tarporley.
The objective of the meeting was to produce a presentation of Projects and Initiatives in which local Rotary Clubs were involved so that substantial publicity might be arranged through Robert's contacts with the Local press in Rotary's Centennial, year.
Pictured here with President Hedley and VP2 Malcolm are representatives from Birkenhead, Chester, Chester Deva, Tarporley and Heswall Rotary Clubs covering 3 Rotary Districts.
Let's hope the efforts of all involved are well received by the Press and we raise the profile of Rotary in the area.
